Just around the corner...

Isn't it amazing how the Lord made our senses? Driving up to the mountains from Fresno, about 10 miles outside the Yosemite Valley line, I roll the windows down and smell an old firmiliar scent, and the only way I can describe it, is it smells like cooked artichokes, one of my favorite veggies. But at that moment, all these feelings and emtions sweep over me, and I am filled with a sense of relaxation and rememberance. Memories of the years my family and I have traveled the 4 1/2 journey to the place I like to call my favorite, Yosemite. It brings back memories of the many hikes we taken, the many stary nights we've sat at the lodge laughing gathered around the fire, playing games and drinking hot cocoa. The many mornings, waking up, drinking coffee and gazing up at Half Dome, Bewildered by it's glory.

I love that I can smell coffee in the morning and be instantly reminded of the many mornings throughout my life, that I've woken up hours after my early rising mom, and smell her coffee, every morning, without exception.

I love that I can smell my Dad's cologne, and be reminded of the comfort He brings me with a hug, a shoulder I've cried on countless times...

Today I bought my first, of many I'm sure, Wood Wick candle, it's Spiced Plum, and the moment I lit it at home, I was filled with the Childish excitment of running through leaves, carving pumpkins, taking a walk on crisp cool nights after Thanksgiving, smelling home made pumpkin pie in harvest time, hearing the rain fall through an open window while I'm currled up watching a movie or reading a novel, sipping hot cocoa on cold winters night at Lost Lake with our friends around a bonfire. It reminded me of so many good things, and those so many good things, are just around the corner. Thank you Lord for seasons and scent, and the many great memories that come from both. You truely are the giver of all good things.
