homemade laundry and dishwashing soap!!!!!!!!

Today being Shrove Tuesday, I must share with the two of you who acctually read my blog, what our plans are for Lent. Our Church, a normal Christian church, participates in Lent. I know, a totally catholic practice... but our church moves by the Letergical Calendar, and celebrates many things most normal churches don't throughout the year, to walk in the steps of Jesus and grow ever closer to Him through those things. I am SO thankful for my church body. I can't imagine being any where else... I adore it. YAY Legacy!

Lent consists of sacrificing something you do on a normal basis: daily, hourly, weekly, etc, to spend more time seeking the Lord, being quiet before, practicing a more Christ like lifestyle, spending time on more important things. In short: Lent= getting quiet before the Lord.
I look forward to it ever year, I know it sounds like something one should dread, but no! To grow ever closer to my Lord and Savior, to set aside 40 whole days to be quiet before Him and get to know Him ever more... Man oh Man, I just crave lent during the non lentan seasons.
So This year, we're giving up eating out, it's not healthy and it doesn't glorify the Lord. We aren't spending money in a wise way when we eat out and we aren't taking care of the Bodies God gave us. a few other friends are giving things up like non christian music, tv, soda, sweets, for example.

So I'm diligently planning my meals, taking only cash to the stores, seeking out good deals, and using the God given talent for Cooking!
I love it.

We're also trying to cut back in other areas:

I have to share with you, two new recipes I've discovered through a few different avenues:

Homemade laundry detergent & Homemade Laundry Soap! Can I even tell you, how excited I am about these things!? WOOOO HOOOOOO! Saving money is one of my new favorite things! Such CHEAP ways to get things clean! Let me share!

Homemade Dish Washing detergent:
Easy as this:

-one part washing soda

-one part borax

-jet dry or white vinager for the rinse cycle...
THAT IS IT!!!!!!!!!!

now those two items at the LOVELY win co, are about two dollars TOTAL for both..... and they're huge boxes...

The great thing about the homemade Laundry Soap is that it consists of those two ingredients plus on more:

Homemade Laundry Soap:

1 bar- Fels Naptha Soap

1 cup Washing Soda
1/2 cup borax powder

Grate bar soap on a cheese grater or grate soap on grater setting on food processor ( much faster), Then pulverize in a food processor or blender. Add in remaining ingerdients and pulse to incorporate.

Makes enough for 40 loads
Note: 1 tblsp per load, 2 tblsp for heavily soil.
ALL ingredients can be purchased at Win- Co in the Laundry Isle. It's hard to find them else where, but let me know if you do so I can spread the word!
Enjoy!!!!
